Das bevorstehende Support-Ende für SAP ECC rückt immer näher und das Zeitfenster für den Umzug auf SAP S/4HANA schließt sich. Hinzukommt, dass die SAP S/4HANA-Datenbank-Technologie durchaus ins Geld gehen kann – vor allem dann, wenn bestimmte Schwellen in höheren Volumina überschritten werden. Dabei spielt insbesondere die Datenarchivierung eine gravierende Rolle. Da sich in den meisten Unternehmen nicht die Frage stellt, ob man auf SAP S/4HANA wechselt, sondern nur noch wann, ist es hilfreich, im Vorfeld einen S/4HANA-Check zu machen. Die Experten der KGS Software GmbH haben deshalb eine Checkliste zusammengestellt, mit der Unternehmen dafür sorgen können, dass ihr Archivierungskonzept nicht nur zukunftsfähig ist, sondern auch nur der Speicher gebraucht wird, der unbedingt notwendig ist. Folgende Fragen helfen bei einer Bestandsaufnahme vor der Migration und sie unterstützen die Unternehmen bei der Priorisierung der verschiedenen Schritte. 1. Wann ist ein Unternehmen von einer SAP S/4HANA-Migration betroffen? Perspektivisch sind alle SAP-Anwenderunternehmen von der Migration betroffen. Beim Greenfield-Ansatz hat man zudem auch alte ECC-Systeme, die stillgelegt werden müssen; ILM (Information Lifecycle Management), inkl. entsprechender Archivierungs-Software kann dabei helfen. 2. Was ist im Vorfeld zu beachten? Es empfiehlt sich mit einer Analyse sowie dem Umzug des Archivs auf SAP S/4HANA zu starten. In dieser Anfangsphase lassen sich bereits wertvolle Erfahrungen sammeln, von denen in der Folge profitiert werden kann. Vorteilhaft ist dabei, dass sich die meisten Archivierungsprojekte bereits vom ersten Tag an amortisieren. 3. Ist der „Keller“ schon aufgeräumt? Dieser Gedanke drängt sich auf: Wenn man schon aufräumen will, sein System verkleinern und schlanker machen möchte, quasi den „Keller“ aufräumen muss, warum sollte dann mein unaufgeräumtes Archiv mit umziehen?
