Macau Grand Prix: Peter Hickman triumphiert zum vierten Mal – Vierfachsieg für die BMW Racer.
Macau. Die Motorsportwelt blickte am vergangenen Wochenende wieder nach Macau. Im Rahmen des 70. Macau Grand Prix wurde auch die 55. Ausgabe des Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix ausgetragen – und das Rennen auf dem spektakulären Straßenkurs Guia Circuit endete mit einem Vierfacherfolg für die BMW Racer. Angeführt wurde das Feld von Peter Hickman (GBR), der mit der BMW M 1000 RR des FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Teams seinen insgesamt vierten Macau-Sieg einfuhr. Davey Todd (GBR / Burrows Engineering / RK Racing) und David Datzer (GER / MTP Racing by ZERO UP Penz 13) sicherten sich die Plätze zwei und drei auf dem Podium. Hickmans Teamkollege Josh Brookes (GBR) komplettierte den Vierfacherfolg für die BMW M 1000 RR bei seinem Macau-Debüt als Vierter. „Herzlichen Glückwunsch an unsere erfolgreichen BMW Fahrer, die in Macau das Geschehen einmal mehr dominiert haben. Ein Vierfachsieg für unsere BMW M 1000 RR ist ein sensationelles Ergebnis“, sagt Uwe Geyer, Head of BMW Motorrad Customer Racing. „Peter Hickman wurde seiner Rolle als einer der großen Favoriten mehr als gerecht. Davey Todd, den wir zurück in der BMW Racing Familie begrüßen können, bewies ebenfalls, dass er zu den besten Road Racern der Welt gehört. David Datzer fuhr bei seinem zweiten Macau-Auftritt zum zweiten Mal auf das Podium, auch das ist eine beeindruckende Peformance. Und Josh Brookes hat als Debütant bei diesem extrem schwierigen Rennen mit Platz vier ein hervorragendes Ergebnis geholt. Vielen Dank an alle BMW Racer, die die Farben von BMW in Macau so erfolgreich vertreten haben!“ Hickman trat erstmals seit 2019 wieder in Macau an, für das FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team war es der erste Auftritt überhaupt auf dem Guia Circuit in der Heimat von Teamchefin Faye Ho. Und Hickman bewies schnell, dass ihm der einzigartige Kurs immer noch bestens liegt. Bereits in den Trainings holte er jeweils die Bestzeit, gefolgt von der Poleposition.
